Slug and lettuce Visit: September 2016
The restaurant and bar enjoy an enviable spot located in Spinningfields alongside the banks of the River Irwell. Ample seating areas based at the front and rear of the building make this an ideal chill out spot for some alfresco fun with friends, family or colleagues. Lydia our server was polite, friendly and customer focused throughout.
Seated inside we sampled a taste of the orient opting for the amazing Asian platter which included the yummy pulled pork steamed buns, tasty hoisin duck spring rolls, crispy beautiful butterfly king prawns, chicken & pepper skewers drizzled with hot chilli sauce and crispy calamari. All served with cucumber & spring onion crudités, delicious prawn crackers and selection of oriental dips. Sun shining we decided to relocate to their outside terrace, that offered cosy cute contemporary wicker sofa seating, to take advantage of the heat and soak up the rays. While chatting and chillaxing we nibbled on some nice Nachos that consisted of terrific Tortilla chips with melting cheese, jalapenos, gorgeous guacamole, sour cream and salsa.
The menu offers a range of lovely foodie delights. Both opting for lighter bites, we enjoyed the tender grilled Chicken, Beetroot Houmous and Avocado with slow roasted tomato in a wheat bran wrap. Also, the Philly Flat-Iron steak sandwich with mouth-watering melting cheddar cheese, drizzled with an oriental barbeque sauce. A fresh favourite was the Mozzarella, Tomato and Avocado served with a lip-smacking sunblush red pepper tapenade.
The award of the day was owed to our cool cocktail creator the awesome amazing Ashley. Ashley rocked his way through the menu mixing up a range of Martinis “Shaken not Stirred”. The racy red French Martini was a mix of Absolut Vanilla vodka, Chambord black raspberry liqueur all shaken up with pineapple juice and topped off with fresh raspberries.
The perfect Pornstar Martini the yellow lovely lush cocktail was a visually delight. Mixed up with Absolut Vanilla vodka with Passoã, caramel syrup, sugar syrup, lemon juice, pineapple juice and passion fruit with a shot of Prosecco on the side. The excellent Expresso Martini gave us an extra kick! Kahlúa and Absolut vodka, shaken hard with a shot of strong espresso and sugar syrup gave us a much needed boost to continue our evening, but also left us wanting to return for more.
Thanks for reading 🙂
