Neighbourhood Liverpool #Review

Neighbourhood Liverpool Visit: January 2017

With several successes behind him, including Neighbourhood at Manchester Spinningfields and Victors in Hale, James Hitchen the owner and founder of east coast concepts was ready to add yet another New York inspired bar and eatery to his enviable portfolio, with the grand opening of Neighbourhood Liverpool. Located within the original 1868 Alliance bank building, the grade II listed building has certainly provided an impressive backdrop for the Neighbourhood newcomer to take its place in the Liverpool restaurant and bar scene. And if that is not enough of an introduction, Neighbourhood have been shortlisted for ‘Best New Restaurant’ by the Liverpool life style awards…exciting stuff and you can still vote here: best click quick as votes close soon. Refurb now fully complete it was my turn to hang out in this northern Neighbourhood and see exactly what this neon lit playground had to offer…

From door to dining, Neighbourhood Liverpool, has it covered.  A wonderful warm welcome from door staff made us feel right at home. A good start, but once invited inside things only got better. Shown to our plush pink seating for two Connor our server introduced himself. Connor was professional, personable and importantly injected his own fun personality into making our evening one to remember. Both starters, the mouth-watering Buttermilk marinated chicken lollipops and the gorgeously presented grilled avocado with tomato relish, speedily flew off the plates. Our only complaint was that we wanted more.

Lip-smacking lushness does not even begin to describe the fabulous main foodie feast. Crispy duck with watermelon & beansprouts was an indulgent yet fresh delight. Now Liverpool’s sister restaurant located in Manchester Spinningfields sets the bar high when it comes to the wellington, but Liverpool there is no need to worry the wellington was wonderful! Brilliant beef wellington with smooth magnificent mash, al dente carrots all smothered with a rich sauce…went down well. Now when you see the words ‘Chocolate brownie with ice cream’ on any menu yummy comes to mind, but this is not just any old Neighbourhood. Experiencing dessert envy for sure, as several beady eyes glanced from the nearby tables, as they spotted my delightful dessert being delivered. A piece of chocolatey perfection, rich, indulgent and demolished in record time.

Chris our cocktail creator that evening made us not want to leave the new Neighbourhood house. Recently back from a spell in New York city these cocktails made the grade – go big or go home…Neighbourhood Liverpool have managed just that with an impressive list of cocktails that would sit well in any New York City Cocktail bar. My fav the Mangolada consisted of Coconut rum, Havana 3 year, coconut, pineapple, orange and mango was super slick and satisfying. Bring on the bright, bold and brilliant Berry Sling shaken up with Absolut Raspberry, Chambord, cranberry, raspberries and lemon was a lovely long refreshing cocktail perfect for after dinner drinking. Always up for a ride on the dodgems, but since there were none in sight, instead I ordered “All the Fun of the Fair’ an innovative mix up of Absolut Vanilla, homemade candy floss, strawberries, bubble-gum, cranberry and prosecco. A fun and theatrical cocktail that Connor kindly demonstrated, but shush…I won’t tell you why, as I don’t want to ruin the fun when you order one!

New to the Neighbourhood, clearly, they have made their mark on lovely Liverpool. Guys get in your best glad rags, Girls glam up and put on your dancing shoes, as this Neighbourhood is worth the effort. #OurNeighbourhood #YourNeighbourhood
