Sakana a la carte Menu review: June 2017
Sensational Sakana situated on Peter street in Manchester city centre offers an enviable Japanese a la carte menu featuring top of the range food and cocktails. Immerse yourself in an evening of Japanese culture and enjoy the Sakanas experience. Tasty Tuesdays began with a lovely warm welcome from Jon and we were overjoyed to find out that the amazing Aziz was to be our server for the evening.
Sampling the small plates was a super duper tasty experience. Visually the food was exquisite elegant works of art, that really wets one’s appetite. Plates included the tasty Thai prawn crackers served up with the scrummy Sweet Chilli Dipping Sauce, the Inari summer roll which are stuffed with tender Tofu, Iceberg Lettuce, Mint, Vermicelli & Vegetable hand rolled in Rice Paper, served with a pleasing passion fruit Chilli Sauce and the tantalising Scallops served on a bed of glass Vermicelli on Shell with Garlic Soy.
Settled into one of the lovely window booths, we chowed down and perused the menu for more yummy small plates to sample. The delightful golden money bags were made by deep frying Vegetable Wontons filled with Potato, Carrots, Edamame Beans, Shitake Mushrooms & Mild Curry Powder, served with Raspberry Chilli Sauce dip & Passion fruit Puree. The succulent and tender honey black pepper spare ribs which are baby back ribs cooked in a Honey Black Pepper Sauce with Garlic. One of my favs is the amazing eight-piece Uramaki which is a delicious Vegetable inside out roll with an Avocado Topping.
Sakana’s had so many cocktail creations, but my fav of the evening was the perfect pornstar cocktail shaken up with Cariel Vanilla Vodka, Passoa, Pineapple Juice, Passion Fruit Juice, Lime Juice served with a shot Prosecco – it was lush. A final surprise came in the form of fireworks and a lovely 35th Happy Birthday chocolate plate alongside an amazing gigantic fortune cookie. What does the future have in store for me or you…Who knows? So in the interim pop along to Sakana’s for some fine food, creative cocktails and words of wisdom.
Thank you for reading 🙂

I have never tried Japanese food before and this just looks divine! I would love to try the honey black pepper ribs, and the inside out roll with avocado the most. I am not a fan of scallops but they look so good, I would have to give them a go
