Scene Indian Street Kitchen Spinningfields Manchester Review: October 2017

Located Left Bank along the River Irwell, in the heart of Spinningfields is Scene Indian Street Kitchen. Winners of several awards, this Bollywood Bar and restaurant sets the scene for an impeccable evening of glamour and style. The delightful outdoor garden terrace space is great for some relaxed al fresco dining in the sun.

écor think an eclectic mix of traditional Indian Railway with Bollywood and the vibrancy of Diwali’s festival of light. Amazing artwork, adorns the walls, created by local Manchester based artists which is married up with antiques, lanterns, soft furnishings and one-off pieces spotted around the restaurant.

Located within the main dining area are some sensational shack style booths which create an intimate feel and are ideal for a meal with family, friends, loved ones or a fab space for a celebratory party or business meeting.  The music has a contemporary Indian twist which really sets an electric up beat atmosphere.

While perusing the menu we enjoyed some of Scenes handcrafted cocktails which included the super ‘Scene Riverside Garden’ mixed up with Hendricks, Martini Bianco, Lime juice, Cucumber Syrup, Apple Juice and Elderflower Cordial. Also, the lovely ‘Indian Rose Delight’ shaken up with Old Cherry Rum, Velvet Falernum, Rose Syrup, lime Juice and Cranberry Juice.

Onwards to the kitchen for some Scene signature food. Open kitchens offer a unique experience for diners to watch their innovative creations being prepared. The Poppadum’s and Selection of 4 dips went down a storm with nothing being left.

Mouth-watering Meals included the fab Vegetarian sharing platter which included the Vegetarian samosa, onion bhaji, paneer tikka and aloo tikki. The super stir fry vegetables, the perfect Paneer butter masala, egg pilau rice, chips and a lovely light fluffy naan bread cooked in the traditional tandoor.

Divine desserts included the gorgeous Gulab Jamun, sensational sweet balls made from full cream semolina, pistachio nuts, butter oil and cardamon powder dipped in a sweet saffron syrup. Also, the lush Raspberry white chcolate cheesecake brulee was a complete hit.  Enjoyed alongside two sensational cocktails; The Kerala Cafe Shaken up with Old Spiced Rum, Kahlua, Cinnamon Syrup and Shot of Espresso. Also, the brilliant Bellini mixed with Peach Pire, Peach Schnapps and Prosecco.

Friendly staff, fabulous food, creative cocktails in exquisite surroundings, a buzzing social hub and a place to be “Scene”.

Thanks for reading 🙂

  1. I work in Manchester City Centre, so I really have no excuse for not going and checking this out.

I lived in the city centre for 6 years (until I had my first child) and loved exploring different restaurants. Think I’m going to have to go and check this one out!

  2. “No disco dancing”??? Guess they don’t watch any Bollywood movies….nothing BUT disco dancing!
Okay the restaurant….I haven’t eaten any Indian food and I still have to taste my first real Indian meal.
Scene looks like a place even I could see myself trying out.
