Stand 4 Socks #Review

Stand 4 Socks Review: November 2017

The Manchester, UK based Stand 4 Socks Founder Josh wanted to make a difference and back in 2015 he said, “What if socks could change the world?” A large percentage of the population wear socks and if each pair bought had a positive impact so, “why can’t socks change the world?”  Now, the Stand 4 Socks brand proudly supports 12 global causes in 9 countries and currently support 11 out of the 17 United Nations Global goals for sustainable development.

Their super sock technology means that each pair have been uniquely designed, are tested for harmful substances to Oeko-Tex Standard 100, ethically sourced via a Sedex audited supply chain which is one of the world’s leading platforms that supports business to manage their performance around health & safety, labour rights, business ethics and the environment, have a seamless toe closure, a reinforced heel & toe and Y-tech technology which means that the sock will cup around your heel naturally meaning these are lightweight, breathable and are a super cosy and comfortable wear.

Warm feet and a warm heart, tis the season of goodwill, so why not combine the pleasure of gift giving with a charitable benefit.  Well, you can do just that, as Stand 4 Socks are award winning socks which clearly have impact.

Water a fundamental human need and a resource often taken for granted, but for many safe drinking water is scarce and difficult to access.  Buy these Active Lightweight Black Water Sports Socks made with their twisted cotton design, in collaboration with Water.org, this pair helps to provide 1 year’s safe water for a household in a developing country.  Also, this will support United Nations Global Goal 6 “Clean Water & Sanitation”.

Environmental concerns continue to grow but can be overlooked in an increasingly consumerist driven society.  Buy these Stripe Navy Green Bamboo Socks made with their 100% biodegradable Bamboo technology, that supports United Nations Global Goal 13 “Climate Action”, and each pair helps to plant 10 trees on a degraded land.  Providing both more trees for the planet as well as refreshed soil for farmers in developing countries.

Comfort, happiness and more importantly all for a good cause – what a  pair of super socks!

Merry Christmas and thank you for reading 😊

Holbeck Ghyll Country House Hotel Review: November 2017

Proud members of ‘Small Luxury Hotels’, ‘Pride of Britain Hotels’, achievers of 3 AA Rosettes in 2018, the Holbeck Ghyll, nestled high up hillside, is situated in an enviable location between Bowness on Windermere and Ambleside.

In 1888 the ‘yellow earl’ and first president of the automobile association Lord Lonsdale acquired the property to use as his private hunting lodge. Now, the Holbeck Ghyll offers guests a sensational stay without the stuffiness. A romantic, relaxing retreat to simply kick back, unwind and forget life’s stresses.

The Holbeck Ghyll has been graced with the presence of many celebs such as Rennie Zellweger during her filming of Miss Potter. Also, this was the onset location for Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon, who filmed their series the Trip in 2010.

The inviting oak panelled, arts and crafts styled, entrance sets the scene with stunning stained-glass windows, an inglenook roaring log fire and an even warmer welcome from Katherine and the Holbeck Ghyll team. Katherine a true ambassador for the brand who provided passionate, professional, personalised, attentive and genuine service throughout.

Renovations have been sympathetic to the original historical features retaining both the character and charm emphasising their beauty without an ounce of vulgarity. Unique room offerings span from traditional to contemporary. Suites have been presented with ‘Lake District’ names such as “Miss Potter”, “Lord Lonsdale”, but importantly the theme is subtle and in keeping with the sophisticated surroundings.

The Easdale junior located in the ‘Tarn House Building’ which offers guests a contemporary rural retreat. An impressive and inviting entrance way transports guests to pure bliss. The spacious junior with floor to ceiling windows provides the perfect backdrop offering sensational views overlooking Lake Windermere and The Langdale Fells.
