The Ivy St Helens Square York #Review

The Ivy St Helens Square York – Review: January 2019

The Ivy York city centre, located in the hustle and bustle, within the St Helens square hub is a sophisticated relaxed dining spot ideal for a delicious dinner date evening.

Warmly welcomed by manager Will and all of his team, who provided prompt professional and personalised service throughout.  We relaxed and settled into our corner booth and admired the cosy, contemporary décor while encompassed York’s historic past with the amazing artwork adorning the walls.

Super starters included the brilliant Buffalo mozzarella Crispy artichokes, pear and truffle honey. Also, the lovely roasted scallops Grilled chorizo and ras el hanout roasted butternut squash.

Mouth-watering mains included the show stopping Grilled whole lobster Garlic and parsley butter with watercress and thick cut chips.  Also, my fav dish was the vegan roasted butternut squash with grains Buckwheat, chickpeas, pumpkin seeds, sesame and pomegranate with crumbled bean curd, harissa sauce and coriander dressing with an extra added on side of thick cut chips.

All washed down with Vanilla Spiced Sour A non-alcoholic sour using Seedlip Spice, lemon juice, vanilla syrup & egg white.  English Spritz, Earl Grey gin, lemon & orange oleo-saccharum, Cocchi Americano, Prosecco and soda.

Delicious and divine desserts included the amazing Apple tart fine Baked apple tart with vanilla ice cream and Calvados flambé and the scrummy yummy cherry ice cream sundae Vanilla ice cream with meringue, pistachio, shortbread with warm cherry sauce.  All washed down with some delcious Jasmine Tea.

A non-rushed, relaxed and all round delightful dinner with efficient and effective service personal, but not intrusive, ideal for a date night out.

Thank you for reading 😊

  1. This looks and sounds delicious. I visited The Ivy in London a while back for a blog event and it was amazing. It looks like lots have popped up in cities since, so I just hope it doesn’t cheapen the name and become yet another chain!

  2. Loving the gorgeous Christmas decorations it has used! The sounds of that vegan main meal is delicious. I am not very creative in the kitchen and I love going out and trying vegan food else where as very often it is so delicious!
