The Grange Hotel York #Review

The Grange Hotel York – Review: February 2019

The Grange Hotel York, a classic Regency townhouse, formally known as Bootham Grange was built and occupied by the wealthy Richardsons in 1829.

In 1989 Jeremy and Viven Caseel converted the building, into the luxury four-star hotel, opening to the public in 1990.

The opulent reception consists of a plush period sitting area along with a spiral style staircase and for our fabulous festive stay the lobby space boasted a beautiful Christmas tree with all the trimmings.

Our premier King room was super stunning, with a welcoming hallway, that displayed some amazing animal artwork and a rather grand room with high ceilings, making the room feel even more spacious.

The lovely lounge area was an ideal space to simply kick back and relax while reading a selection of pre-provided lifestyle magazines.

The gorgeous vanity area, that could also double up as a work space, provided an ideal space to pamper and write my articles thanks to the complimentary wifi.  Also the complimentary and well appointed hospitality tray was generously stocked with a range of Yorkshire tea, coffee, herbal teas, fresh milk and some scrummy biscuits.

After a busy day in York, sink into your super cosy hypnos mattress and get all snug in the luxury soak and sleep duvets to perhaps watch some television, indulge in a little reading, made so easy with the flexible bright bedside lights or to catch up on some much needed Zzzs.

Quality and high spec bathroom with power shower, a ceramic tiled floor with underfloor heating, heated towel rail, quality hand towels, bath sheets and face clothes with The White Collection luxury toiletries.

Now it’s time for a little you time, the marvellous Morning regency room, with typical English décor, for a traditional afternoon tea.

A breathtakingly stunning room ideal for relaxing, recharging and refreshing ready for another day of exciting York adventures.

The traditional afternoon tea consisted of a selection of savoury sandwiches including Smoked salmon, ham, cheese & egg.

Also, some scrummy sweet treats including some super scones with jam and cream.

Then a range of delightful and dainty freshly made cake offerings all washed down with earl grey and peppermint tea.

In the evening, retire to the hotels lounge bar and get cosy by the roaring fire for a night cap.

Wake up fresh and head down to the Ivy Brasserie for a bountiful breakfast, a brick vaulted cellar, that was used as an air raid shelter during the 2nd world war.

A mix of intimate seating from tables for two and booths all in the nooks and crannies of this well designed functional yet beautiful space.

The buffet consisted of Breakfast Cereals, Berry Compote, Grapefruit & Orange Segments, Melon, natural yogurt, Assorted Pastries and assorted Fruit Juices.

Hot options included the Tea, Coffee with Toast and Preserves, the ‘Deliciously Yorkshire Breakfast’ Back and Streaky Bacon, Cumberland Sausage, Tomato, Mushroom, Black Pudding and Baked Beans. Also, the lovely Vegetarian Breakfast with Vegetarian Sausage, Tomato, Mushroom and Baked Beans.  Both served with egg of your choosing.
The gorgeous Grange offering high quality accommodations, superb communal spaces, an amazing afternoon tea and a beautiful breakfast what’s not to like.

Thank you for reading 😊
