Novotel York Centre #Review

Novotel York Centre – Review: February 2019

Novotel York Centre, situated close to the historic city walls and overlooking the beautiful banks of the River Foss, is a fabulous four-star hotel.

Check in process was warm, welcoming and super friendly.  The lovely lady adopted a relaxed informal approach providing all the relevant information in a polite and professional manner.

The immaculate Executive rooms are the ideal space to unwind and relax.  Ideal for couples, families or business trips away. Fluffy robes and slippers are all provided for you to use throughout your stay.

The amazing artwork, that adorned the wall, featured several of York’s key landmarks and attractions, including Clifford’s Tower and the Shambles.  Along with the lazy lounger made for a fab room.

The desk area can double up as a vanity space, work area or simply a place to chill.  Enjoy complimentary premium wi-fi connectivity, mineral water, Nespresso machine, fully appointed tea tray, use of the BOSE Ipod station and free local calls.

A lovely little extra received, was a pretty platter packed with premium scrummy chocolate truffles, fabulous fruit and a York themed welcome card.

Bathroom included a separate toilet, then a stand up power shower, mirrored vanity area and plenty of premium toiletries.

Prior to dining, why not head down to the onsite Gourmet bar and enjoy a light refreshment or two, as you soak up the atmosphere.

Feeling peckish, the onsite Gourmet Bar and Restaurant, have you covered.  Loved the York location, again the walls displayed incredible artwork of key York locations such as St Mary’s Abbey ruins and the marvellous Minster, a place close to my heart.

Manager Jennifer, a lovely lady and along with cheerful chap Conner made a fab team and both did an excellent job of looking after us all evening.

The menu contemporary with a mix of cuisines to tempt all palatal preferences.  The brilliant beetroot tortellini Goat’s cheese and white wine fricassee was super scrummy and the tasty traditional beer-battered fish and chips made with house-made beer batter and served with mushy peas and tartare sauce was cleaned of my plus ones plate in record time.

Delightful desserts included the creative cheese board, that offered a Selection of British and international cheeses, served with fig chutney and biscuits.

Opting for sweet puddings, then choose the wonderful warm chocolate brownie with a dollop of Jude’s Hampshire vanilla ice cream and the yummy Vanilla cheesecake with lashings of berry compote.

Enjoy a relaxing after dinner drink in the glorious Gourmet lounge are equipped with flat screen television, even a piano and plenty of super snug seating hubs for you to get all cosy.

Wake up early and make a splash in the onsite pool, heated and ideal to get a good swim session.

After working up an appetite, head down to the buffet breakfast or do as we do and opt for room service.  An efficient and effective delivery, by a pleasant lady, with the whole order being 100%.

Hot options included a full British breakfast with bacon and sausages or the Vegetarian option with veggie sausages.

Cold continental included a range of pastries, preserves, toast, orange juice and cereals.

Overall our stay at Novotel York centre was easy going and relaxed.  Exceptional service, delivered by all staff, who were friendly and energetic.  An excellent executive room with brilliant onsite facilities.

  5. I love that the rooms have York themes to them rather than being generic like some hotels. I also love a hotel with a pool too, great to be able to have a lovely lie in and a dip in the pool before your days adventures.
