The ibis Manchester Centre 96 Portland Street Hotel Review: August 2019

Rock up to Marvellous Manchester, for a chic city break with friends, family or a loved one, and stay in the ibis Manchester Centre 96 Portland Street Hotel.  Located near Manchester Piccadilly train station, the Arndale shopping centre you are right in the heart of all the exciting city action.

Recently refurbished, the hotel’s lovely lobby provides a contemporary space to kick back and chill or a relaxed place to get out the laptop and work your way to the top.  Love the Manchester Bee wallpaper too.

The moment you arrive, the whole vibe is friendly, fab and warm, even as you wait for the lift you get a big beautiful textual hug, “From the heart is personal, a genuine one-off”.

The main bedroom with splashes of colour vibes, blackout curtain, featured a super snug and cosy SweetBed, a desk area with complimentary tea and coffee making facilities.  The hotel kept us sweet with a fab welcome platter, packed with sweet treats such a lovely touch.

Enjoy some you time and hit the onsite bar CHILL#96, the ideal place for a pre-post dinner drink or two.

Décor a mix of vintage industrial city chic and the drinks are just as good looking as the Chill#96 Bar.  We enjoyed an amazing virgin Mojito and a classic Camden pale ale.

Dinner required, well ibis has you covered, as they have a partnership with the Exchange food and drink lounge which is literally a hop, skip and a jump just around the corner.

Taking inspiration from their local heritage, being allegedly located on the site of the first public telephone exchange, “The Telephone exchange” in 1847.  Décor is a mix of aged industrial chic with contemporary collections including telephone paraphernalia, open bulb light fittings, stripped wood, metal mirrors, bar style stools, cosy booths and soft plush sofas.

Sharing is caring, so we opted several starters including the Soya Balls in tomato sauce with Sourdough bread, Tofu Fries and a superfood salad.

Mains made me smile, a brilliant option for vegetarians too the Battered Aubergine Fish & Chips with minted mushy peas, Tartare Sauce and lemon.  Also, the Beer Battered Fish & Chips with Minted mushy peas, Tartare Sauce and lemon.

Desserts included the delightful chocolate and passionfruit torte and the chocolate brownie all washed down with an amazing mocktail and gorgeous Goose IPA.

Begin breakfast beautiful, as Ibis 96 Portland have, “got Sunshine on a cloudy day” along with a range of continental offerings such as fresh fruit, cereals, muffins, pastries, juices, tea and coffee.

“Keep calm and enjoy your stay” further by indulging in their hot buffet including the full English breakfast options and awesome vegetarian sausages made to order.

The ibis Manchester Centre 96 Portland Street Hotel give plenty of their Heart in what they do to make this place feel lie your Home.

  1. Looks like a really nice place to stay. The room is cozy and the bed sure looks like it promises a good night’s sleep. I love the convenience of the onsite bar and that fabulous restaurant very close to the hotel! Keeping note of this hotel for sure and will recommend to friends and family who will be vacationing there.
