Grassington House Hotel Grassington Village Review: February 2020 #Gifted
Grassington House located within an enviable position within Grassington Village in the idyllic Yorkshire Dales National Park is the perfect place for a rural retreat and a hidden gem.
The Hotel has a whole plethora of awards including consistent Gold award from Visit Britain, 5 stars & 2 rosettes from the AA, Yorkshire Life Award Winners, Welcome To Yorkshire Finalist and TripAdvisor’s Hall of Fame.
Family run since 2008, as soon as you arrive both Sue and John welcome you with open hearts making the hotel feel like a home away from home.
The accommodations all have their own unique charm and character, we stayed in The Square Room. A boastful and beautiful room which had delightful and decadent French château-style furnishings including some rather grand armchairs and two sparkling chandeliers.
The opulent vanity area was well thought out with a cosy seating space, mirror at the right height and complimentary cotton wool and ear buds to use, as you pamper yourself.
The windows open directly onto the village square, take a seat on the upholstered window seats, as you watch the world go by, people watch and simply admire your surroundings.
The plushness continues with a super cosy bed, complimentary filtered water and a wonderful welcome platter. Perfect to enjoy along with the fully stocked tea tray while watching the 32” television.
The Bathroom for me was perfect, overhead shower, a huge sunken tub with enough room for 2, snug waffle bathrobes and quality complimentary toiletries to use throughout your stay.
The onsite restaurant is a must, run by owner and chef John, the food is an absolute triumph, ideal for couples and family to catch up and enjoy good food over a glass of bubble or elderflower fizz.
Both Michael and Alice our servers attentive, informative but not intrusive did an amazing job looking after us throughout the evening.
Food focuses around fresh locally sourced produce where possible cooked the ‘Grassington House Way’ luxury contemporary cooking with flare, finesse, but in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Starters included the beautiful Seared King Scallop with chorizo and samphire and a stunning vegan dish Salt baked celeriac with artichoke, and roast red pepper which had the most intense and delicious tomato flavour – heaven on a plate.
Mouth-watering mains included a classic steak with all the trimmings and another vegan delight with beautiful beetroot, kale, charred fennel with shallot and coriander bhaji and Also, the super sides of greens, chantenay carrots and chunky chips were all fabulous.
Divine desserts included this delicious chocolate tart and smooth sorbet, fruity and full of flavour. All washed down with some peppermint and earl grey teas.
Dinner a complete success and the restaurant handles dietary requirements seriously, but without any faff or fuss.
Mornings begin the right way at Grassington House in the breakfast room.
Begin with fresh fruit, porridge, a range of cereals and some fabulous freshly squeezed juice.
Enjoy toast, butter and tea alongside a proper Yorkshire breakfast and my vegan Potato bake option served with avocado was a great way to start the day.
Gorgeous Grassington House, the perfect place for a luxury fuss free rural getaway. A home a way from home with good food, drinks and even better company with Sue and John at the helm.
Make Grassington House your next North Yorkshire getaway.
