The Yorkshire Hotel & Scran Restaurant Harrogate Review: March 2020 #Gifted

The Yorkshire Hotel right in the heart of Harrogate is the perfect place for leisure and business ideal for family, couples and business trips.

From the moment you walk in you are warmly welcomed in true Yorkshire fashion.

Loved our accommodations including the fully stocked tea tray with these fabulous Yorkshire Lass and Yorkshire Lad mugs.

The Yorkshire theme is subtle with the addition of lovely Yorkshire wall prints.

A spacious room with a super snug bed with cosy cushions and the perfect place to lay your head after exploring Harrogate.

The lounge area with flat screen television is the ideal place to chill out and with windows giving a Harrogate view feel free to people watch.  The information screen on the television provided a perfect what to do guide while in Harrogate – a cracking idea to give guests ideas of how to spend their time.

There is a contemporary bathroom with huge rainfall shower, a cool waterfall style sink tap and complimentary Harrogate toiletries.

Make sure you get yourself down to their onsite restaurant Scran.  Lovely Chris, Chloe and all the team will make sure you have a more than reight time.

Scran provides a relaxed atmosphere in cool, cosy and comfortable surroundings.

My plus one loved his steak dish, but I say go with the flow and the main ethos of the restaurant and opt for small plates.  After all they say sharing is caring.  Equally impressive is the team’s ability to deal with allergies and dietary’s without faff or fuss.

Fantastic, fabulous food innovative, interesting and enticing to the palate.  The Moroccan chick pea based stew with grilled pitta and Indian spiced falafel are both delicious.

My fav’s the Tacoliflower – a super sensationally scrummy tandoori spiced cauliflower bhargis with pickled red onion and mint yogurt are insane! By the end of the evening, the staff probably got sick of me banging on about these all evening, they are that good!

Desserts included a vegan brownie and mallow sundae and this cute Yorkshire Scran Signature Pud, served in traditional tin, with banoffee trifle, sticky toffee sponge and pecan nut brittle.

All washed down with a range of marvellous mocktails and some classic IPAs.

Breakfast is served with a side of Harrogate, as you have the most amazing Harrogate view.  Chef Wayne, server Simon and all the breakfast team are pleasant, personable and started our morning off well.

Offerings include a huge breakfast buffet with a range of hot and continental.  Enjoy fresh fruit, pastries, a range of cereals, porridge, juices, tea and coffee.

Obviously, a hot Yorkshire breakfast was enjoyed and my fav avocado on toast.

The Yorkshire is literally smack bang in the middle of town with Bettys Tea Rooms, Harrogate International centre and the War Memorial right on your doorstep, so plenty to see and do.

Once you have worked up an appetite head back to Scran for their Sunday Lunch.  Loved the news paper style menus and the offerings are spot on and just what Sundays are about.

Starters included the gypsy eggs dish with pan fried chorizo, serrano ham, tomato and baked egg with granary toast.  Myself, I could not resist going for the tasty Tacoliflower dish – yummy.

Mains included a variety of dishes such as a delicious chick pea curry and a range of roasts such as the rump of beef served with duck fat roasties, carrot & swede mash, cauliflower cheese, greens, Yorkshire pudding & their amazing gravy.

Desserts included a classic sticky toffee pudding with lashings of toffee sauce and this amazing chocolate and raspberry Vegan sorbet dish.

The Yorkshire, amazing accommodations, fabulous food and an even warmer welcome.

Thank you for reading 😊

  1. It looks lovely, a really detailed review. Loving the mugs you get for your brew although as a Lancashire girl I could not drink from that mug haha Yorkshire has some beautiful places to visit and this would make a lovely place to stay whilst visiting.
