City Centre Cruises Sunday Lunch Review: May 2017
Liverpool Road Castlefield Manchester is the starting location of the exciting City Centre Cruises Four Course Sunday Lunch. It was an honour to be taking sail on the barge boat named after the prominent Manchester figure “Emmeline Pankhurst” the courageous suffragette leader. Amazing Alan both commentator and our Skipper welcomed us aboard this gorgeous grand vessel for an exciting and knowledgeable journey through Manchester’s canal network.
As you can see seating aboard was spacious, with tables draped with delightful bright summer yellow cloths that were synonymous with the summer sun shining that day. John front of house and additionally rocked the locks, as you can see from the photo, was a delightfully charming character that kept everyone amused and well entertained. Alan’s commentary guided us through an eclectic mix of Manchester’s past and present, with the tour featuring the likes of the old soap works mixed with contemporary apartment style buildings and natural wonders such as the goslings. We also learnt about the ‘Strawberry botanical gardens’, a romantic hub, where the Victorians took their ladies out for a picnic. Also, the 1995 Pomona lock, which is used to lower down the barge boat and many more exciting historic facts.
Expedition City Centre Cruises not only provides an exciting array of commentary, Ooo did I mention Alan’s amusing poems too, but also a yummy Four Course Menu, cooked by the lovey chef Lorna, that can all be enjoyed while looking out onto the canal with some amazing views of Manchester. Terrific Trudy, front of house, started by serving us the delicious homemade Potato and leek soup along with a crispy roll, which was super tasty. The roast was one to rave about, as it tasted incredible and we could not believe that such perfection had been cooked on-board a barge, any restaurant would be enviable of this fine feast. The crumble desert was delicious and looked perfectly pretty too. Finishing off with tea or coffee, this lovely lunch was a seafaring triumph. Throughout the journey, thirst was kept at bay, as the bar offers a superb range of beer, wines, spirits and soft drinks that everyone would be happy with.
City Centre Cruises what a customer focused team you are…Alan the Skipper comical, friendly and provided knowledgeable commentary. John rocking the locks and keeping us all entertained and the wonderful chef Lorna providing mouth-watering food all delivered by the lovely Trudy. A unique experience, a rememberable day out and we would love to set sail and come aboard again soon.
Thank you for reading 🙂
