A Fantastic Foodie Stay at Novotel Manchester Centre #Review

A Fantastic Foodie Stay at Novotel Manchester Centre – Review: March 2019

The Novotel Manchester Centre, located in the heart of the city, is the ideal place to stay, offering all the amenities and mod cons from a convenient and central 4-star base.

Warmly welcomed at check in, it was time to head straight up to the room.

The excellent Executive rooms offer guests a stylish and spacious space.  The snug bed, lovely lounge area, along with the fully stocked tea tray, give the room that cosy home away from home feel.

The room had two huge flat screen televisions, a useful writing desk/vanity area, bedside reading lights and plug sockets ideal for reading and charging those essential gadgets.

Bathroom included bath, overhead shower, fabulous illuminated mirror, complimentary bathroom goodies included the fabulous Fairtrade Shampoo, shower gel, body lotion, conditioner and soap.  Also, essentials such as a comb, dental set, shaving set, shower cap, vanity set, shoe shine sponge and a sewing kit which cuts down on the baggage, and the need to pack extras.

After you have settled in head down to the onsite Exchange Food and Drink Lounge for a drink or two at the bar.

The variety of drinks on offer was first class, including specialist larger, fizz, a good range of mocktails and non-alcoholic drinks, so everyone is catered for.

Taking inspiration from their local heritage, being allegedly located on the site of the first public telephone exchange, “The Telephone exchange” in 1847.

The vibe in relaxed and décor is a mix of aged industrial chic with contemporary collections including telephone paraphernalia, open bulb light fittings, stripped wood, metal mirrors, bar style stools, cosy booths and soft plush sofas.

The exciting Exchange food menu has a whole range of dishes to try from stir fry, pizza, fish and chips, steak, super salads along with some scrummy desserts.

Starters included the yummy Halloumi fries with salsa and the crunchy Cheese nachos with fresh dips.

Mouth-watering mains included the 12oz Sirloin Steak, grilled cherry tomatoes, hand cut chips, watercress and peppercorn sauce.  Also, the Superfood Salad rocket, feta, avocado, beetroot, sweet potato, roasted red pepper, cauliflower rice, toasted pine nut and lemon dressing.  Sides of Skin on Fries and onion rings thrown in and all got scoffed!

The dessert duel was between Chris and Matty B with Chef’s Chris Chocolate Brownie and Matty B’s Bakewell Tart, both served with Ice Cream.  We could not pick our fav so decided it was a well-deserved draw.

Start your day off with a boom and opt for the Novotel Manchester breakfast buffet.

An absolute treat, offering gluten free muffins, cereals, fresh juices and the tastiest freshly made smoothies.

Also, continental items such as fresh fruit, meat, cheese, yogurt, pastries, baguette, toast, preserves and herbal teas.

Hot offerings just as plentiful with both meat and vegetarian options, all nicely presented and tasted fab.

Fancy a workout, well pop on your fluffy robe and slippers, included within your executive room, and head on down to their modern fabulous fitness centre to let off some steam.

Relax, refocus and recharge in the sauna and steam room, with towels and water already provided you can have a little you time without any stress.

After enjoying some of Manchester’s sites, make some time for you and your party to chill out and chow down.

The amazing Afternoon Tea at the Exchange Food and Drink lounge really is a lovely must do while you are in town.

Fabulous finger sandwiches, scrummy scones with jam and cream, lovely sweet treats and of course a glass or two of the fizzy stuff to wash it all down with.

Friendly service, fun vibes and fabulous food what’s not to like!

  2. I love the retro-minimal aesthetic approach of the decor they have! And I love the fact that there’s a gym ,I find it so important to be able to fit in a quick work out while travelling!

  3. I have stayed in a Novotel in New Zealand and loved it. This one looks just as great. I love when places build to their history. The “exchange” is awesome, and adorable with all that retro.

  6. We have stayed at a Novotel once too, though I cant recall where and when at this time, but I do recall we totally enjoyed our stay there. That Afternoon Tea would have turned into a full day event for me 🙂

  8. I love Novotels, most of them are new and up to the latest star standards, when we book a hotel in France with the children we always stay in there.
